Summary (1)

Absolute Poker is one of the best rooms in terms of bonuses, loyalty rewards and everything related to that. The software is adequate but not great and graphics are not what you would expect from a poker network. Absolute Poker is, despite the rather low traffic numbers, one of the most promising poker rooms. Its focus on tournaments is in the right direction but some of its efforts should be focused on the game types besides Hold’em. All in all, this is a good poker network with minor flaws and great offerings.

Software (6)

Most people agree that Absolute Poker has no poker feeling to the software. The rendered graphics provide a cheezy look and the textures don’t look particularly good. The software is still good, despite this huge miss. It is fast, easily navigated and logical. Unfortunately, the table animations are sluggish and the sound effects are a bit annoying at times. Feature-wise, Absolute Poker has done nothing to the software to stand out of the masses. There are basic hand statistics and alike, but in general, it’s just plain simple and non-pokerish.

Traffic (7)

Absolute Poker is definitely not one of the biggest poker rooms on the internet. It has had a fairly slow growth since it was founded in 2003. Despite the acceptable variety of Hold’em games, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Stud Card and 7 Stud Card Hi/Lo, most of the traffic is focused on Texas Hold’em. High stake players are not very common and most of the action is in the $1/$2 and micro games. At peak hours Absolute Poker serves approximately 1,500 ring game cash players and slightly more in tournament games.

Tournaments (8)

If you enjoy tournaments and freeroll kinds with no restrictions, you might want to check this out. Absolute Poker may not have the best numbers in traffic, but at peak times, rooms at low and medium buy-in fees seem quite popular. You have a variety of sit ‘N’ goes, multi table tournaments and more. Absolute Poker offer Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, plus the exclusive WSOP tournaments and freerolls. For Absolute Poker regulars, there is an Absolute Reward Points section with huge cash prizes. We also enjoy the fully customizable, private tables.

Game Variety (7)

Absolute Poker is focused on Texas Hold’em and tournaments of its different kinds. Besides the Hold’em games, you can dive in and play Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Stud Card, 7 Stud Card Hi/Lo and heads-ups. Texas Hold’em has the only great variety of Fixed Limit, No Limit and Pot Limit. The limits range from very low micro levels up to $75/$150.

Soft Competition (8)

Micro play and low stakes play is an interesting experience at Absolute Poker. Most people play at the lower levels, and because of this, people who usually play on higher levels, join the low stake games. There is a lot of action here and if you know your card, then you are likely to score some bucks. Unfortunately, $2/$4 tables and up offer some occationally tight competition. This has improved since 2004, however.
