Summary (6.2)

Doyles Room has changed a lot over the past 5 years or so, switching networks on multiple occasions, from Tribeca, to Microgaming, and finally to the Cake Poker Network. Each move improved the online poker room, but this latest transition takes the cake, so to speak. Doyles Room left Microgaming in 2008 when the company banned US player acceptance. The move was necessary to maintain Doyles Room’s commitment to US players, but the overall benefits for new and existing members have been extraordinary. Microgaming/Prima Poker may have had a few perks, like a wider game variety, but Cake Gaming’s software is far superior in functionality, features, graphics and playability.
Software (8)

The latest move to the Cake Poker Network has boosted Doyles Room greatly in the software department. The poker client is fast, stable and runs smooth. All of the vital stats are available in the lobby, like average pot size, viewed pot percentage and hands played per hour. Personal stats are displayed at the tables. The hand history function is excellent, even saving the chat for each session to build player-reading skills.
Other features include player tags and note taking, though notes are a bit more complicated to work with. Multi-tabling allows up to 10 tables at once with smooth game play, but offers no mini-view option.
The graphics reveal that traditional, elegant casino feel, with deep red felt and oval tables. A large selection of realistic avatars are available to choose from.
Traffic (6)

Roughly 7,700 players come here to play during peak times, sometimes even more than that. The traffic is mostly in the Texas Holdem No Limit gaming. Omaha players will be able to find some competition too. Most of the traffic is in tournaments, where about 5,000 players can be found at peak hours.
Tournaments (5)

Doyles Room offers a lot of tournaments for Texas Hold'em, as well as the other variants. Single tournaments attract a good deal of players, but the multi-table tournaments, with buy-in of $1 up into the hundreds, draw the most players on average. The most popular tournaments are the weekly Doyles $50k Bounty tournament, featuring Doyle “Tex_Dolly” Brunson and two other resident pros, the $100k Weekly Guarantee and the $250k Monthly Guarantee.
Daily guarantees are worth up to $25k. If you’re looking for smaller action, try the Loose Change Tournaments, where only 6 pennies ($0.05+$0.01) sets you on a path towards real cash. The prize pool is based on entries, but with such a good price, you can imagine how well populated these tourneys are.
Game Variety (7)

Variety is not an issue to most poker players who focus mainly on Texas Hold'em and a little Omaha on the side. Fortunately, this won't be much of an issue at Doyles Room as you have the two mentioned, plus Omaha Hi-Lo, 7 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud Hi-Lo. Only a few players sit down at such rooms, but the few who do usually play in the medium stakes. Roughly 90% of the traffic is in the Texas Hold'em rooms.
Soft Competition (6)

The Cake Poker Network has become rather well known for its loose, juicy competition on the virtual felt. The typical player at Doyles Room is below the average. Texas Hold'em No Limit tables play host to most of the fish, at the lowest stakes, but also up to $2/$4, and sometimes even $5/$10. Flops are usually viewed 40-45 % of the times, which is quite high.

Loyalty Rewards (6)

Doyles Room doesn’t really have a specific VIP ladder to climb, but like most loyalty schemes, the more points you earn, the more perks you get. Players earn poker points to raise their Gold Bar. When the Gold Bar fills, a Gold Chip is awarded. Each month, the amount of points needed to clear the next Gold Chip decreases. For example, the first chip requires 120 points, the second 115 points, all the way down to 70 points for the fifth. Reach 5 Gold Chips in a month to get a 6th chip free.
So what do you do with these chips? Gold Chips are used to enter weekly Gold Chip Giveaway tournaments without risking any cash. These tournaments award huge prizes, cash or otherwise. You can also buy into satellite events, or purchase from the Doyles Room Store. Gold Chips never expire, so save them up as long as you like to make the most of them.
